With all of the injuries and releases going on in Spring Training, it’s important to realize that drug tests are still going on.
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Tampa Bay Rays’ starting pitcher Alex Colome will be suspended 50 games for violation of MLB’s Joint Drug Agreement after testing positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs.
Colome pitched in three games last year for the Rays, going 16 innings and putting up a 2.25 ERA. He struck out 12 in that time while walking 9. He was tabbed to start the season in Triple-A.
The team’s only comment on the situation was that they are “disappointed.”
