Shogun Rua thanks his fans after last night's war

Going into last night’s main event battle, we already knew that no matter the outcome, both men would forever be etched inside annals of greatness in MMA history. Karyn Bryant, Kenny Florian, and Chael Sonnen reminded us throughout their pre and post fight shows that both men were sure-fire hall of famers, and I doubt anyone would disagree.

In the end, Shogun Rua and Dan Henderson put on yet another classic bout for the fans down in Brazil. Shogun started the fight hot, hurting Henderson in both round 1 and 2. When the third round was set to begin, it seemed that Shogun was poised to finish the exhausted Hendo. Instead, Henderson reached deep into his heart and unleashed a ferocious right hand that knocked Shogun out.

It was a brutal ending for Shogun, who took to Twitter to say thank you to his fans and request some time off to spend with his family:

Regardless of Shogun’s next move, MMA fans will always be grateful for the fantastic fights he has put on.
