It would seem as if production on the new Fox series Gotham is well underway. Two weeks ago, the network released the official logo for the show, as well as the official synopsis of the series. Then, last week, fans were given their first look at one of the characters from the show, Detective Harvey Bullock. Now, we have a look at a different character in the series, the Wayne Family’s loyal servant Alfred Pennyworth.
As some of you may already know, Fox has cast English actor Sean Pertwee in the role of Alfred. Fans may recognize the name for two different reasons. Pertwee is the son of actor Jon Pertwee who famously played the role of the Third Doctor on the long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who. Most recently, fans may recognize the younger Pertwee as Gareth Lestrade from the CBS series Elementary.
Alfred’s role in Gotham is going to be slightly different than what we have come to expect from the kindly old gentlemen of Batman’s past. In the new series, Alfred is described as a tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London who has loyally served the Wayne Family. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne. Definitely not the Alfred we are used to seeing.
Speaking of seeing, here is a look at Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth in the upcoming series Gotham.
The series stars Southland’s Ben McKenzie in the role of the rookie Detective James Gordon. Joining him in the series is Jada Pinkett Smith, Sara Paxton,Camren Bicondova, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, Robin Taylor, Zabryna Guevara, David Mazouz, Cameron Bicondova, and many more.
There is no official premiere date for the series as of yet, but we will keep you updated as soon as more information becomes readily available.
