South Carolina star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is one of the top players in the 2014 NFL Draft, but there have been some varying opinions about where he will be selected. It seems certain that Clowney will be a top five selection, the only question is how high.
All of the speculation seems to be taking it’s toll on Clowney, who recently sounded off and appeared irritated with the discussion.
“People tell me every day something new,” Clowney told the Charlotte Observer. “They see me going No. 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1. I just have to wait ’til that day comes. Everyone, just stop telling me about it.
“Growing up I just wanted to play in the NFL. I didn’t know all this was going to come with it.”
Most of the questions about where Clowney will be drafted stem from the concerns about his work ethic and motor, but he is not too concerned with the doubts that people have.
“People want to know what’s going on,” he said. “I don’t question my motor. I feel like my motor is very good. Teams will find out very soon.”
If Clowney can turn all of the questioning into a source of motivation when he enters the NFL, opposing offensive linemen better be worried about the beast across the line of scrimmage that will be playing with a chip on his shoulder.
There is no doubt Clowney is one of the most talented players in the draft class, so any extra motivation will only be a plus.
