LPGA: 48 of the top 50 players in the field at the Kia Classic

Forty-eight of the top fifty players on the LPGA Tour will tee it up this week at the Kia Classic (March 27-30).  World No. 1 Inbee Park headlines the field along with No. 2 Suzann Pettersen, No. 3 Stacy Lewis, No. 4 Lydia Ko, and No. 5 Karrie Webb.

Beatriz Recari is the defending champion at the Kia Classic.  Recari bogeyed the final hole in regulation last year to fall into a playoff with I.K. Kim.  The playoff ended when Recari sank an 18-footer for birdie on the second hole of sudden death.

Recari went on to have her best season as a professional.  She won the Marathon Classic in July 2013 and finished the year with over a million dollars in prize money.

The players will be taking on the Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Club for the second year in a row.  Aviara is a picturesque course in Carlsbad, California with large, undulating greens.  The players must hit precise iron shots in order to setup a chance at birdie.

This will be the last week of qualifying for the inaugural International Crown.  Eight teams made up of the top four players from eight countries will compete at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland (July 24-27).  South Korea is currently the number one team followed by the U.S., Japan, Thailand, Spain, Sweden, Chinese Taipei, and Australia.

TV Schedule for the Kia Classic on the Golf Channel:

March 27th, 28th: 6:30 pm – 9 pm ET

March 29th, 30th: 7 pm – 9 pm ET
