MLB Rumors: Fellow players vote Bryce Harper, Yasiel Puig as most overrated

When I think of overrated Major League Baseball players, Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals doesn’t exactly come to mind.

But for fellow players around the league, he apparently does as Harper along with Los Angeles Dodgers phenom Yasiel Puig were voted as the most overrated players in baseball.

An unnamed American League All-Star agreed with the sentiment regarding Harper:

AL All-Star: “I like Bryce Harper. I think he’s going to be really good. But the attention for him — and for Puig, to a certain extent — is overkill. It’s just been hype so far.”

While both Harper and Puig have received mass amounts of media attention, what they’ve done has been pretty impressive. And while I agree they’ve likely been given too much press, I’m not sure that should play into both players being ranked as ‘overrated’ by their MLB counterparts.

Rounding out the top three was suspended New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who received 14 percent of the vote.

Harper came in first with 24 percent while Puig came in second at 21 percent.
