The Seattle Mariners’ lineup continues to be a question mark. They added Corey Hart, but with his injury struggles this spring it looks like his status for Opening Day might be in doubt.
They pursued Nelson Cruz, who eventually landed with the Baltimore Orioles. Then there is Kendrys Morales, still available but unwilling as of yet to meet the Mariners on the terms of a deal. Pending a deal with Morales, it seems that the team’s final avenue to acquire lineup help is their main trade chip, infielder Nick Franklin.
Rival exec: #Mariners continue to look for RH bat. Might only deal Franklin if they can fill that specific need.

Hart was meant to bring that some right-handed pop to their lineup but always came with significant injury risk. That the Mariners are left scrambling to add more offensive depth with Opening Day less than a week away seems to be a self-created problem as much as anything else.
