NBA Draft 2014: Wayne Selden to bypass draft, return to Kansas for sophomore season

The Kansas Jayhawks suffered a crushing loss on Sunday in the Third Round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament on Sunday to the Stanford Cardinal, and with that they will more than likely lose star freshman Andrew Wiggins. However, they will be getting back their other young star, Wayne Selden, as CBS is reporting that he will return for his sophomore season in Lawrence.

Kansas guard Wayne Selden will return for his sophomore season of college basketball.

“Cant wait to get to work,” Selden said, “and get back in the fieldhouse.”

This is tremendous news as not only will the team lose Wiggins presumably, they may also lose Joel Embiid as well.

This year for the Jayhawks in their march to the regular season Big 12 championship, Selden averaged 9.7 points and 2.5 assists.

While he gave way to Wiggins and Embiid in the stardom category, there’s no doubt that he will bet he integral part of the Jayhawks’ team next season as they seek yet another Big 12 regular season title.

Selden showed flashes of being a great player at times this season, so there’s no telling how one more season in Lawrence will help his draft stock come next season.
