NBA Rumors: Steve Nash says Kobe Bryant, Mike D'Antoni haven't been 'good match'

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled under Mike D’Antoni, prompting star Kobe Bryant to question D’Antoni’s future with the organization.

That in itself is a bit odd given the relationship the two have stemming from Bryant’s father playing in Italy, but the marriage just doesn’t seem to be working – a sentiment that Steve Nash shared on ESPN radio.

Per InsideSoCal.com:

All of these years later, however, Steve Nash confirmed that Bryant and D’Antoni have not become a good match together with the Lakers.

“I wouldn’t disagree,” Nash told ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd. “We’ve seen that. People have deduced and read between the lines and felt that way, they’re not wrong. It’s not the perfect marriage.”

While D’Antoni certainly has his faults, in fairness he’s been given a pretty banged up roster for the past two seasons and this season was given essentially an NBDL type lineup, so I’m not sure the blame entirely falls on him.

That said, it’s a league of what have you done for me lately and D’Antoni hasn’t done anything.

Enough D’Antoni pity. We need a coach that stresses defense as well as offense. Championships ARE NOT won with offense alone. Sad that D’umbtoni is so old and still hasn’t learned that yet.
