Replica Boston Marathon finish line painted on Boylston Street

With less than a month to go until the 2014 Boston Marathon, crews painted the replica finish line on Boylston Street on Tuesday, working during the wee hours of the morning to complete the job in time for the morning commute.

The actual finish line for the marathon, made from adhesive material, will be place over the ceremonial painted line on race day.

Of course, it’s impossible to think about this year’s race and not think about the bombings that occurred last year. According to some of the Bostonians interviewed by WBZ, the fresh coat of paint is a symbol of hope, strength, and change:

The 118th Boston Marathon will be held on April 21.
