Teuvo Teravainen, Chicago Blackhawks top prospect, to make NHL debut

Teuvo Teravainen will make his NHL debut tonight when the Chicago Blackhawks former first-round pick hits the ice against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

Teravainen, 19, will center a line with Brandon Saad and Ben Smith and could see some ice time with the Hawks second power play unit because of his ability to make plays and set people up.

At 5-foot-11, 169 pounds, Teravainen is similarly built to Kane who he will be compared to despite playing a different position. The Finnish native tied for sixth in the Liiga with 44 regular-season points (nine goals and 35 assists in 49 games).

The injury to Patrick Kane who is out for the rest of the regular season opened the door for Teravainen to not only get on the ice, but to potentially see extensive ice time.

With 97 points, the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks are in fourth place in the Western Conference and trail the St. Louis Blues by six points for the top spot.
