When Disney acquired Star Wars from George Lucas a few years ago, they also quietly acquired the rights to Indiana Jones as well, which has had fans of that series wondering if or when Disney will be reviving it like it’s been reviving Star Wars.
On Tuesday, we may have gotten our biggest scoop yet, as Latino-Review is reporting that Disney is looking at Bradley Cooper to replace Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in the next installment of the franchise.
There is a date and if Indiana Jones 5 is not moving forward by then, the studios are 100% prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy. … And who just might be one of the actors that the studio is looking at ? The word is that they are looking at several but Bradley Cooper is at the top of the list.
We should take this news with a grain of salt, but it does at the very least raise a serious question about the Indiana Jones franchise. If the series is going to move forward, then recasting the titular role like they do with James Bond isn’t a bad idea.
James Bond seems to be an anomaly though in the world of recasting roles, but Indiana Jones could fit into the world. Cooper is also not a bad choice, as he’s shown action and comedic chops before and he has the rugged hometown looks to pull off the massive task of filling Harrison Ford’s aging shoes.
