The Carolina Panthers have tipped their hand in the most obvious of ways this week, stating that they’ll indeed be drafting a wide receiver in the draft this year. While tipping your hand isn’t a smart move when trying to jockey for certain players, just about everyone inside and outside of football can see that Carolina is targeting receivers in the draft.

As obvious as the Panthers are being, the question still remains as to where they’ll be targeting their receivers. With a late first-round draft pick, it’s unlikely that the Panthers will land Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins or even Marqise Lee, but there are plenty of receivers to choose from.

The issue is that the Panthers can’t wait forever to draft a receiver because they literally have no weapons as is. They have secondary and even third option weapons lining up in No. 1 roles at the moment which seems to put an emphasis on going high on a receiver.

Carolina dug themselves a hole and it will be interesting to see if they can get out of it or if they’ll sink lower.
