NFL Free Agency 2014: Chicago Bears sign Jared Allen to four-year deal

After it looked like jared Allen would be signing with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, the defensive end has decided to stay in the NFC North and has agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears. According to just about every NFL reporter out there, the Bears and Allen ave agreed on a four-year deal, pending a physical to seal the deal.

The signing comes after it appeared that Allen had agreed to terms with the Seahawks, a report the both Adam Schefter and Ed Werder from ESPN seemingly got wrong. After that situation, we can’t believe Allen has signed with the Bears until he actually does, but that appears to be exactly what will happen.

Allen will be replacing Julius Peppers on the Bears defensive line and will be paired with offseason signing Lamarr Houston on a defense that just got a whole lot more dangerous thanks to the addition of the sack master.

As a Seahawk fan… Good for Allen and Da Bears! Chicago gets a player that could help them out, and Jared gets to stay close to home. After ten years in the league, he has the right to chose his preferences.

For a Seahawk fan… You can’t miss a gift that you never got! Sometimes the best deal is no deal, and besides, we’re $7-12M richer for players that might fill our needs, not just added benefits.
