The Oakland Raiders recently acquired Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub and that seemed to throw them off from drafting a quarterback with their first-round draft pick. But while Schaub appears to be the starter and head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie are in win-now mode, the team is still going to have a strong presence at the Pro Day of Johnny Manziel.

According to Raiders beat writer Vic Tafur, Oakland is not only sending head coach Dennis Allen to Manziel’s Pro Day, but he’s bringing Offensive Coordinator Greg Olsen and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo with him as well.

It’s very possible that Mark Davis wants the Raiders to draft Manziel for the future of the team, even if Allen and McKenzie might not be around to see the guy they drafted blossom. Still, there’s no guarantee that Manziel will fall to them but they clearly want to be ready if he does.
