Although the Minnesota Vikings re-signed veteran quarterback Matt Cassel and still have their 2011 first round draft pick, quarterback Christian Ponder, on the roster, it is obvious the Vikings are looking for an upgrade at the position.

The Vikings have the eighth overall pick in the draft so they are in a position to possibly draft another signal-caller in the first round.

It seems like at least one of the supposed top three quarterbacks, Blake Bortles of the Central Florida Knights, Teddy Bridgewater of the Louisville Cardinals and Johnny Manziel of the Texas A&M Aggies will be gone, there is a chance two or possibly all three could be available.

The Vikings are also interested in Fresno State Bulldogs’ quarterback Derek Carr and will meet with him.

Apparently, there is another quarterback the Vikings are interested in.

According to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net the Vikings’ offensive coordinator, Norv Turner, is “intrigued” by Boyd.

Boyd completed 283 of 413 passes for 3,851 yards with 34 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season.
