NCAA Tournament 2014: Arizona vs. San Diego State predictions and preview

One of the last games of the first night of the Sweet Sixteen sees a game between two teams that very well could determine who comes out of the West Region. While Baylor-Wisconsin and Stanford-Dayton are great games featuring great teams, the Arizona Wildcats have looked unstoppable and the San Diego State Aztecs are equally as hot.

It could end up coming down to defense in this one and Arizona has shown the upper hand there. San Diego State hasn’t been wholly convincing in their games up to this point, but they’re in the Sweet Sixteen and that’s all that matters. That being said, they’ve beaten some so-so teams to get there while the Wildcats had to get past a pretty hot Gonzaga team in the Round of 32.

Arizona seems to be the real deal but no one is as high on them as they are other teams. Florida, Dayton, Iowa State, Louisville and Virginia are all getting much more attention that Arizona is and even Kentucky is being talked up more. The Wildcats are a one-seed but a seed that many are surprisingly sleeping on.

Maybe it’s because they’re underrated or maybe it’s because this is expected of them, but Arizona is quietly marching towards a Final Four appearance and their biggest step yet could — and likely will — come tonight.

Prediction: Arizona over San Diego State 76-72
