After getting slapped with the franchise tag this offseason, linebacker and pass rusher Brian Orakpo will be remaining with the Washington Redskins after inking a one-year tender with the team.
Washington made the news official by tweeting out a photo of the linebacker signing his deal on Thursday morning.

The Redskins will likely now have to do this whole song and dance again next year with Orakpo, as a long term deal likely won’t be worked out. Such a thing was hinted at by head coach Jay Gruden at the Owners Meetings this week but the door wasn’t totally closed on getting a deal done.
What the Redskins wanted more than anything was to simply have Orakpo back, but Gruden acknowledged that they may not get the whole package with Orakpo since he’s on a one-year deal and is risking big money in 2014.
Still, he’s back with Washington and progress still can and likely will be made by the two sides.
