One year after the horrific Boston Marathon bombings, the Red Sox will honor the city of Boston at home.
Typically, the Red Sox home uniform has “Red Sox” in red lettering across the front. This year, and hopefully for years to come, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe announces that the team will wear the uniforms they wore on their first game following the attack on the day of this year’s marathon, April 21. This uniform will have “Boston” in the same lettering across the front, which is typically reserved for their away games.
Last year, the Red Sox wore the “Boston” jerseys in the series against the Kansas City Royals following the marathon attacks, and hung a “Boston Strong” jersey in the clubhouse with the number of the area code for Boston, 617.
