It wasn’t easy by any means, but the top seed in the West Region, the Arizona Wildcats, will live to fight another day as they fought off a resilient San Diego State squad 70-64 to advance to the Elite 8 on Saturday and a date with the second-seeded Wisconsin Badgers.

Things did not look promising early on as San Diego State took a 32-28 lead into the half as it seemed Sean Miller’s crew couldn’t do much right on the offensive end. But they were able to put enough runs together in the second half and hit their shots down the stretch to walk away with the win.

Aaron Gordon stepped up in a huge way in this one, dropping in 15 points and adding in seven rebounds. The one big scare that this team had tonight, aside from how close the game actually was, was the fact that Nick Johnson did not have his best night.

But, nonetheless, the former number one team in the country will play on Saturday against a very good Wisconsin team with a trip to Arlington on the line.
