March Madness 2014 Sweet 16: Top seed Florida defeats UCLA, advances to play Dayton in Elite 8

The tremendous run as of late for the Florida Gators will continue on as the top overall seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament has advanced to the Elite 8 by defeating the UCLA Bruins 79-68, and will now take on the Cinderella Dayton Flyers on Saturday in the South Regional Final.

Once again, Billy Donovan’s crew put on a good shooting display, what has carried this team all season, especially in this spectacular run since conference play started all the way back at the beginning of the calendar year.

UCLA would not go quietly in this one as the Gators only took a six-point lead into the half at 36-30. But the second half belonged to Florida when they came out of the locker room, with UCLA getting only as close as five with about two minutes left to go in the game.

Again, now the Gators will move on to take on Dayton on Saturday in the South Regional final. Can Florida avoid becoming the latest victim of the Dayton upset?
