The Pittsburgh Steelers were rumored to have interest in running backs Maurice Jones-Drew and LeGarrette Blount this week, but a recent turn of events has forcibly narrowed their interest to just one of those backs. With Jones-Drew set to ink a three-year deal with the Oakland Raiders, the Steelers will be meeting with Blount on Friday with the hopes of getting something done.
There was a report earlier in the week that suggested either Blount or Jones-Drew would sign by Friday — and so far that’s partially true, albeit at the Steelers expense.

The Steelers would need to restructure some money to afford Blount, but it’s clear that a deal is very likely. Not many other teams have shown an interest in Blount and those that have would also need to be cautious about how much they hand over to the back.
Still, the Steelers seem to be in the market for a dual back system and pairing Blount with Le’Veon Bell seems like an appealing idea.
