According to a report from KTVU.com, San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver was arrested on Friday morning at around 10 AM ET on charges of felony hit-and-run and weapons possession charges.

"According to the San Jose police, they received a call at around 10:21 a.m. reporting that a bicyclist had been struck by a car that fled the scene at Tully near Senter Road in San Jose."

After a small pursuit, Culliver was tracked down, then proceeded to get out of the car and threaten a pedestrian with brass knuckles, which police did find after they did a search of the car.

Culliver missed the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL, and if you can remember, he was the subject of some controversy two years ago before the Super Bowl when he made some anit-gay remarks.

The 49ers organization did release a statement shortly following the incident:

"“The 49ers organization is aware of the recent matter involving Chris Culliver,” the statement released to KTVU. “We will remain in contact with Chris and the local authorities as we continue to gather the facts regarding this situation. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will reserve further comment at this time.”"

We’ll have more on this situation as it becomes available. As of now, Culliver is in Santa Clara County jail.
