Tim Lincecum leaves start after line drive to the knee

The San Francisco Giants showed faith in Tim Lincecum‘s ability to continue to be a good Major League pitcher this off-season, signing him to a two-year $35 million deal.

The Giants and Lincecum both face nervous times, as the pitcher was forced to leave his start Friday night after taking a line drive to the leg. Here are two updates from Andrew Baggarly from CSN Bay Area:

Perhaps most noteworthy, at least in the moment, was the fact that Lincecum was not able to put any pressure on his leg whatsoever. It certainly seems likely that he will miss a start or two to start the season, with any decision about the disabled list pending until the Giants can evaluate the injury further.
