The 6’5, 270-pound Mahoney was in Miami for a visit to check out the school and obviously, he came away impressed.
He attends Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
Mahoney is ranked as the 96th best offensive tackle prospect, the 22nd best overall prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and the 909th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Mahoney chose the Hurricanes over offers from the Akron Zips and Boston College Eagles, among others.
Mahoney becomes the Hurricanes’ seventh commitment, joining six other 3-star recruits, athlete Charles Perry, offensive tackle Kevin Feder, offensive guard Leeward Brown, tight end Bowman Archibald, wide receiver Emonee Spence and defensive tackle Ryan Fines.
