The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got their weekend off to a great a start.
They received a commitment from 3-star Safety Prentice McKinney.
“I just talked it over with my parents and everything and they wanted me to go ahead and commit,” McKinney told Irish Illustrated via NBC Sports’ Inside the Irish. “I’m gonna try to get down there on April 12. I am gonna talk to them tomorrow. I just talked to coach Cooks tonight. He was very excited. Everybody is real excited. We’re gonna be one family man.”
The 6’2, 180-pound McKinney attends South Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas.
He is ranked as the country’s 40th best safety prospect, the 81st best overall prospect in the state of Texas and the 642nd best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
McKinney chose the Irish over an impressive offer list that includes the Arizona State Sun Devils, Arkansas Razorbacks, Michigan Wolverines, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies, among others.
