James Franklin and his Penn State Nittany Lions continue to roll on the recruiting trail.
Penn State landed their 10th commitment for the class of 2015 on Saturday when 4-star offensive guard Steven Gonzalez gave his pledge to Franklin.
Gonzalez was thought by many to be an Ohio State Buckeyes’ lean.
After visiting Boston College earlier in the week, Gonzalez went to Happy Valley on an unofficial visit starting Friday and told the coaches of his intentions on Saturday.
Sean Fitz of 24/7 Sports, who broke the story, points out Gonzalez is “a 2015 Under Armour All-American Bowl selection” and “he was a second team all-state offensive lineman in 2013 in addition to first team all-group, all-county and all-league offers.”
The 6’3, 300-pounder received an offer from Penn State in January, just after Franklin replaced Bill O’Brien as head coach.
Gonzalez attends Union Hill High School in Union City, New Jersey.
He is ranked as the seventh best guard prospect, the fourth best overall prospect in the state of New Jersey and the 177th best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Gonzalez chose Penn State over offers from Ohio State, Boston College, the Connecticut Huskies, Duke Blue Devils and Louisville Cardinals, among others.
