This isn’t the type of news Los Angeles Clippers fans want to hear at this point in the season. Star forward Blake Griffin had to leave Saturday’s game against the Houston Rockets with back spasms.
ESPN’s Arash Markazi reported that Griffin was taken out of the game with 5:48 left in the first quarter, as he was grabbing his lower back as he walked off the court. Griffin continued to show discomfort as he bit his jersey in the Clippers’ huddle during a timeout.
He was escorted from the court by Clippers trainer Jasen Powell, and is doubtful to return to the game.
Per Markazi’s report, Griffin and teammate DeAndre Jordan were the only two players on the Clippers roster to play and start in all 74 games this season. Currently Griffin is averaging 24.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
With the playoffs just around the corner, Clips fans can only hope that this is an isolated incident and won’t be an ongoing issue for one of the stars of Lob City.
