Louisville star Russ Smith visited Kentucky Wildcats locker room after loss

Rivalries are what make sports what they are and college rivalries seem to make all other sports rivalries look like child’s play. There’s more than just pride on the line it seems when college programs clash and we saw one of the best rivalry games in college sports on Friday night when the Kentucky Wildcats upset their in-state rivals to advance to the Elite Eight this weekend.

In professional sports, we have guys confronting each other outside of locker rooms and words of trash talk on Twitter exchanged bitterly. For Louisville star and future NBA guard Russ Smith, his postgame trip to the Kentucky locker room was out of pure respect for his opponent.

The game was an instant classic, especially in the long history of Louisville and Kentucky, but this latest classic was punctuated with Smith’s touching antics. It’s not everyday that you see this kind of sportsmanship and Russ Smith is clearly a winner despite the loss he suffered.
