Friday night, the Michigan Wolverines were able to hold off the Tennessee Volunteers to advance to the Elite 8 on Sunday against the Kentucky Wildcats. They were able to do so without sophomore big man Mitch McGary, as they have been able to get through most of the season without him.
If they want to make the Final Four, they’ll have to do that without him as well because Saturday morning, John Beilein ruled him officially out, to the surprise of no one.
John Beilein just ruled Mitch McGary out for tomorrow’s game. No surprise.

McGary has missed most of the season with a back injury which had surgery on back in January. There was a bit of a stir caused prior to the Tennessee Sweet 16 game as McGary was in uniform, but he ultimately didn’t see time on the floor.
With the win on Sunday, Michigan will make its second straight trip to the Final Four and try to get that title that eluded them last season.
