NCAA Tournament 2014: Florida Gators advance to Final Four with South Region win over Dayton

The fourth straight trip to the Elite 8 was the charm for Billy Donovan and these amazing Florida Gators as they were able to handily take care of the Dayton Flyers in the South Region final on Saturday night, 62-52.

Dayton just didn’t have enough left in the tank in this one to keep their incredible run alive, as they were out-manned on both ends of the floor, as most teams have been playing the overall top-seed Gators this season.

The Flyers did their best to make a run late in the second half, cutting the lead to eight with about a minute left, but they had trouble with ball movement on the offensive end, and a terrible time with rebounding on the defensive end

Still the hottest team of anyone left so far, this was the 30th consecutive win for Florida dating all the way back to their early December loss to the UConn Huskies, who ironically enough are also in the Elite 8, setting up a possible much-anticipated rematch.

Now, Donovan and his Gators team will sit back and wait to see who their opponent is in Arlington. They’ll play the winner of the East Region final on Sunday between the Michigan State Spartans and UConn Huskies.

You can bet that a little part of this Florida squad is hoping to see UConn.
