In addition to losing their top wide receivers, the Carolina Panthers also lost their top kickoff man this offseason in Ted Ginn Jr.

Now looking for a replacement, it’s possible the Panthers may have interest in Jacoby Ford, formerly of the Oakland Raiders.

ESPN’s David Newton replied to a fans question, who asked why the Panthers weren’t interested in Ford.

"Can’t say for sure they aren’t interested. You’re right, he is a burner. He would be a project like Ted Ginn Jr. last season. Gettleman said he wasn’t through in free agency, so maybe Ford is on his list. But it’s not a list he likes to share."

Ford is a relatively solid return man, but if you’re expecting anything else out of him, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Sure, his speed will at times allow him to separate as a wide receiver but with brick hands, it’s not that useful.

Then again, the Panthers need all the help they can get at the wide receiver position, but relying on Ford for such is relatively risky. As far as a return man though, the Panthers could do far worse.
