The Tennessee Titans are expected to release running back Chris Johnson at some point in the coming week, and there are already some teams being connected to the former 2,000 yard rusher when he becomes available.

On Friday, reports surfaced that the Atlanta Falcons could be interested in acquiring Johnson when he becomes a free agent, but now there is an AFC team expected to enter the mix.

More from New York Jets

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York,  the Jets will pursue Johnson whenever he is released by the Titans.

The Jets currently have a more physical runner in Chris Ivory in the backfield, so adding a player like Johnson will be a perfect complement. While his speed may be on the decline, there is no doubt that he still has a little left in the tank that makes him a threat to take the ball to the endzone once he finds the edge.

New York is hoping to add weapons to the offense and Johnson would be just the latest quality signing for the team this offseason.
