Texas Rangers option Colby Lewis to Triple-A Round Rock

The Texas Rangers made a couple roster moves today that involved right handed starting pitcher Colby Lewis.

Texas made a move that they were almost expected to make by optioning Lewis to Triple-A Round Rock. Lewis underwent a surgery that was almost similar to WWE legend The Undertaker. Lewis will be spending a little bit of time in the Minor Leagues before being brought up to the Major League roster.

He’s currently battling his way back from elbow and hip surgery.

The Rangers optioned third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff to Triple-A Round Rock as well. Kouzmanoff was a non-roster invitee as the 32 year old infielder hit .370/.443/.593 across the line this Spring. He was unable to beat out Jim Adduci for a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Right handed pitcher Nick Martinez was optioned to Double-A Frisco. The 25 year old pitcher was brought up to the Major League roster pretty fast after a couple players fell to injuries this Spring. He could find himself back with the big league roster by April 5th, a date that happens to be his first start of the regular season.
