Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera knew that he was in the process of working out a new contract, despite the fact he wasn’t in the war room with front office members and his agent.
That said – no deal is official until the parties both agree, so there was some uncertainty regarding Cabrera’s eight-year, $248 million dollar contract extension. After all, that’s a lot of money to invest – MVP player or not.
Preparing for Friday’s evening tilt, Cabrera decided to sit down for a pregame haircut with Jordan the Barber. That’s when his phone rang with his agent on the other end, informing him that the contract had been agreed upon and all that was needed with his name on the dotted line.
A somewhat shocked Cabrera informs Jordan of what just took place, prompting the celebrity barber to scream out ‘we’re gonna go crazy’ and break out into a shuffle while a gleeful Miggy looked on.
Jordan, who owns two New York based shops suggested that Cabrera might fly him in via private jet next time he needs a trim and he didn’t look like he was kidding.
