Gordon Beckham, Jeff Keppinger go on White Sox DL

As teams start to form their 25-man rosters, some moves that need to be made don’t require cutting people.

The Chicago White Sox announced that they have placed infielders Gordon Beckham and Jeff Keppinger on the 15-Day DL. Beckham will go on with an oblique strain suffered on March 15th. While he has been slowly resuming baseball activities, he is not expected to be with the team until mid-April. This allows Marcus Semien to start Opening Day at second base for Chicago.

Jeff Keppinger underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in the winter, and it is apparently still causing him pain. Keppinger has been experiencing pain while on his throwing program and it is looking as if he will not be joining the club in the near future. Leury Garcia, acquired in the Alex Rios deal to the Rangers, will be the utility infielder.
