NCAA Basketball Rumors: Duke assistant Steve Wojciechowski emerges as target for Marquette

Since Buzz Williams left the program a week ago, their search to find a replacement has been an eventful one, to say the least. Now, it has taken another interesting turn as long-time Duke Blue Devils assistant Steve Wojciechowski has emerged as a top contender for the job, according to Yahoo Sports.

Duke assistant coach Steve Wojciechowski has emerged as a target for Marquette University in its searching for a basketball coach, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Wojciechowski  has been Coach K’s right hand man at Duke for for 15 seasons, and he was one of his most beloved players before that. But with Coach K recently letting it be known that he won’t be stepping down anytime soon, it’s no surprise that WoJo could be looking elsewhere.

Ar first, Marquette targeted VCU coach Shaka Smart, however he called them late last week and turned down the offer. Tennessee’s Cuonzo Martin and former UCLA head coach Ben Howland are also said to be legitimate candidates.
