The Philadelphia Phillies will begin the 2014 regular season on the road against Prince Fielder and the Texas Rangers.
Now long-time Philadelphia Phillies infielder Jimmy Rollins will be entering his 13th season with the team. I honestly forgot that he was still playing, but it’s great to see that he’s still around and doing what he does best. According to Todd Zolecki on Twitter, Rollins didn’t fly with the team to Arlington, Texas because he stayed behind with his wife who is expecting to deliver their second child.
Jimmy Rollins didn’t fly with team yesterday. Wife is expecting second child, but is expected to be in lineup in TEX tomorrow.

As Zolecki noted, Rollins does expect to be in the starting lineup against the Rangers. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. eastern time. He batted just .173/.271/.346 across the line through 59 at-bats this Spring. The Phillies signed infielder Ronny Cedeno to a Minor League contract as insurance but was assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
I wonder if he’ll be benched for his lack of hustle again. We’ll just have to wait and see, but it could open up an opportunity for Cedeno.
