Philadelphia's Michael Carter-Williams hopes to learn the names of all NBA referees

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Michael Carter-Williams is wise beyond his years.

As Pro Basketball Talk passed along today, the wall of the rookie’s locker is covered with a poster showing the names and corresponding faces of every NBA referee. According to Carter-Williams, it is important for young players to ingratiate themselves with officials:

“My coaches put that up so I’ll learn the names of the refs and build a relationship with them. So that’s why that’s up there.

“I’m a rookie, they felt as a point guard I should have that bond with the refs. You see guys like Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook who have relationships with the refs, and you know, they’re veterans now. They probably know every ref by their first name.”

Seems like a smart decision to me.

In other Philadelphia news, the 76ers are now only 32 wins away from tying the NBA record for consecutive victories.
