Saturday Night Live: Jay Pharoah spoofs Stephen A. Smith (Photo)

The eyes of the sports world are transfixed on March Madness as two teams punched their ticket to the Final Four and we are all waiting to see who will play Florida and Wisconsin with a spot in the national championship on the line, Naturally, with the tournament being topical, the gang over at Saturday Night Live dug into the tournament during the Weekend Update which meant another appearance by ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith, played by the brilliant Jay Pharoah.

Pharoah has become the go-to impersonator for SNL’s sports spoofs as he has nailed impersonations of Shaquille O’Neal, Shannon Sharpe and Michael Strahan to name a few.

But his Stephen A. Smith impression is spot on and a hilarious parody that isn’t far off from the real thing. Pharoah came out as Smith to not only say that he’s very good friends with everyone that host Colin Jost brought up, but also to say that he still believes Wichita State will win the tournament.

Pharoah killed the impression of Smith, per usual, and left us with another great edition of the Weekend Update as a result. Since the departure of Seth Meyers to Late Night, the Weekend Update has taken a bit of a dip, but when Pharoah drops by to throw down his impressions, everyone’s night gets a little better.
