The Tampa Bay Rays will host the Toronto Blue Jays for a four game series to open up the 2014 regular season.
A team that reached the playoffs by defeating the Cleveland Indians in a one game wild-card playoff game before taking on the Boston Red Sox in the next round. They lost 3-1 against the soon to be World Series Champions.
Now before the Rays take the field tomorrow against the Blue Jays, they made several roster moves to get things going.
They placed right handed pitcher Jeremy Hellickson on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury. He’s recovering from arthroscopic surgery and shouldn’t be back until the end of May, beginning of June.
Right handed pitcher Juan Carlos Oviedo was the second pitcher placed on the 15-day disabled list today with a right elbow injury. Oviedo had Tommy John surgery over a year ago and dealt with a minor Visa issue. So this is giving him some extra time to rest up.
Last player to land on the 15-day disabled list for right now is infielder Tim Beckham. He suffered a torn ACL in his right knee while working out sometime in December. Tough way to get yourself hurt, but it happens.
