Twins’ Brian Duensing to go on paternity list

While some players spend their time in Spring Training working to get onto the Opening Day roster, one Minnesota Twins pitcher will not be on the roster for a very good reason.

Brian Duensing’s wife will be induced as they expect the birth of their child and Duensing will fly to Omaha Sunday. He is expected to rejoin the club on Thursday. In the meantime, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that 30th round draft pick Mike Tomkin will be placed on the Opening Day roster in his stead. Berardino also notes that Tomkin does not have to be the player sent down upon Duensing’s return.

Our congratulations go out to Brian and his wife!
