After what has been an exciting week in the 2014 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, after Sunday’s action, the Elite 8 is now set and the festivities will begin on Monday to decide who will be moving on to the Final Four.
On Sunday, the story of the day was unquestionably the North Carolina Tar Heels who knocked off the top-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks in the Stanford Region. We knew that North Carolina was a dangerous team coming in, and they proved that with their Sweet 16 performance on Sunday.
Also, the Maryland Terrapins pulled off a huge upset by topping the Tennessee Lady Volunteers earlier in the day. While some don’t necessarily think the women’s tournament is prone to upsets, we were proven wrong twice on Sunday.
