On Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Chicago Blackhawks watched captain Jonathan Toews take a huge hit from Penguins defender Brooks Orpik that knocked him out for the remainder of the game with a body injury.
With the final stretch of the regular season here and teams beginning to prepare for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there was some reason for concern for the Blackhawks, but it appears that everything will be okay.
According to Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville, Toews’ injury is not serious and he is officially listed as “day-to-day.”
Q said Toews is “day to day; I don’t think it’s serious.” They’ll know more tomorrow. #Blackhawks

Orpik was not penalized for his hit on Toews and it was certainly a clean hit, so it was just an unfortunate incident on the ice.
Luckily, it shouldn’t hurt the Blackhawks in the long run.
