Daniel Cormier fought at the end of February and Dan Henderson recently fought in March. Now, it appears that the two men could be returning to the octagon on Fourth of July Weekend at UFC 175 to face each other in a key light heavyweight match up.
Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com confirmed rumors that had been circulating over the past 24 hours when he passed along the report that Cormier vs. Henderson is being targeted for the event.
Henderson is currently ranked the No. 6 light heavyweight in the world, while Cormier is ranked No. 5.
The winner of this bout is likely to earn a title shot with a win. There is no word on where the bout would fall on the main card, but it would be a strong contender to earn the co-main event slot.
UFC 175 will take place on July 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The event is headlined by a middleweight title fight between current champion Chris Weidman and top contender Lyoto Machida. UFC 175 takes place the weekend of the UFC Fan Expo, which is held in conjunction with International Fight Week.
