If Opening Day didn’t go your way or you planned on using the streaming starter strategy to get you through the opening week of fantasy baseball, there are some attractive offers on the waiver wire to bolster your starting rotation.  I outlined the basics of streaming starters and my goal is to give you three or four of the top selections every day throughout the MLB season.  My goal will be to get the post for the following day up mid-afternoon so that you can make your move before your league locks rosters.  All pitchers highlighted in these posts will be available in more than 50% of ESPN leagues and I’ll include their ownership percentage in parentheses after each pick.

Check back each day to find my daily selections for streaming starters right here on Fansided. I’ll be tweeting out my picks @ZT_Sports and also be posting them with a brief explanation here. For our full fantasy baseball coverage, click here or click here for just our starting pitcher focus.

Here is my top pick for Tuesday and click next at the bottom of the page or use the arrow keys to scroll forward to my other options.  Starting Thursday, I’ll also post data on how my picks have performed.

Martin Perez-Texas Rangers (2.8%)

Perez gets the call against the Phillies in the second game of the season for the Rangers whose rotation was ravaged by injuries this spring.  Amidst the turmoil, Perez was consistent and is all of the sudden one of the top options in the Texas rotation. He has the powerful Rangers lineup behind him as he faces the Phillies lineup which lacks the power of many of the AL lineups (although you couldn’t tell that on Opening Day when they went off).

Perez had a solid year last season finishing with a 10-6 record while compiling a 3.62 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP in his 20 starts.  He was considered a top prospect for many seasons as he rose through the Minors and looks to convert that success to fantasy relevancy.  Perez is a nice pickup even if you’re looking for a more permanent solution than just one start, but if you need a streaming option for Tuesday the matchup looks like it sets up well for him.
