The Toronto Blue Jays tried to be cautious. They tried to get out in front of things when Jose Reyes tweaked his hamstring during Spring Training. They tried to be proactive so that their shortstop was healthy and ready to go for Opening Day.
Even with all of those efforts, Reyes had to exit their opening game with trouble with that same hamstring. The team did not wait long Monday night to announce that Reyes is headed to the 15-day disabled list. Per Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com:

This is not the start that the Blue Jays needed this off-season. After winning the off-season last year, things fell apart in Toronto thanks, in part, to injuries. This winter they were relatively quiet, giving themselves even less margin for error if they got hit with injuries again.
Reyes is dynamic when he’s on the field, but the Blue Jays still have not gotten the chance to fully reap the benefits of his talent. If it’s going to happen in 2014, it now won’t be for at least a couple weeks.
