MLB Opening Day 2014: Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers starting lineups

The Kansas City Royals season hasn’t even started and they’re already dealing with injuries in their bullpen, but thankfully few teams in the league have more depth in their pen than the Royals.

That pen should come in handy against the powerful Detroit Tigers who’ll enter play without longtime first baseman Prince Fielder who was traded to the Texas Rangers this past offseason.

The loss of Fielder shouldn’t be felt too great though as the Tigers lineup remains as potent as ever, despite losing shortstop Jose Iglesias for a hefty portion of the season to fractured shins.

Below is your Opening Day lineups.

Kansas City Royals:

1. Norichika Aoki (RF)
2. Omar Infante (2B)
3. Eric Hosmer (1B)
4. Billy Butler (DH)
5. Alex Gordon (C)
6. Salvador Perez (C)
7. Mike Moustakas (3B)
8. Lorenzo Cain (CF)
9. Alcides Escobar (SS)

Detroit Tigers:

James Shields will be starting for the Royals and he’ll be opposed by Tigers ace Justin Verlander.
