MLB Opening Day 2014: Philadelphia Phillies at Texas Rangers starting lineups

Welcome to the new Major League Baseball, where Opening Day consists of playing interleague games against teams not even in your opposing division.

It’ll certainly grind the gears of baseball historians who prefer to keep the American and National Leagues separated, especially on Opening Day, but the inclusion of all-the-time interleague play is here to stay.

Because of that, now we’ll have the Texas Rangers hosting the Philadelphia Phillies on their respective Opening Day.

The Rangers come into the season as strong as ever (thanks to additions like Prince Fielder), though are unfortunately dealing with a rash of injuries which has forced ace Yu Darvish out of the Opening Day lineup.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies added veterans like Marlon Byrd and A.J. Burnett this offseason in hopes they’ll be able to squeak out a playoff birth in the tough National League East.

Below are your Opening Day lineups.

Philadelphia Phillies:

1. Ben Revere (CF)
2. Jimmy Rollins (SS)
3. Chase Utley (2B)
4. Ryan Howard (1B)
5. Marlon Byrd (RF)
6. Domonic Brown (DH)
7. Carlos Ruiz (C)
8. Cody Asche (3B)
9. Tony Gwynn Jr. (LF)

Texas Rangers:

1. Shin-Soo Choo (LF)(5200)
2. Elvis Andrus (SS)
3. Prince Fielder (1B)
4. Adrian Beltre (3B)
5. Alex Rios (RF)
6. Mitch Moreland (DH)
7. J.P. Arencibia (C)
8. Leonys Martin (CF)
9. Josh Wilson (2B)

Veteran Cliff Lee will get the start for the Phillies, opposed by young Texas arm Tanner Scheppers.
