MLB Rumors: Phillies have three of six highest paid players in league

USA Today released their annual Major League Baseball salary database today and three of the six highest paid players in the league come from one team – the Philadelphia Phillies.

Ranking second in Major League Baseball with a $25 million dollar salary for the 2014 season is Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard. Behind him at third overall in the league is pitcher Cliff Lee, who’ll haul in a cool $24 million.

Rounding out the top six is fellow Phillies arm Cole Hamels who will bring in $23.5 million, good for a combined $72.5 million dollars split between three players.

Non-Phillies making the top five include Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke, who at $28 million makes the most money in Major League Baseball this season. Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners comes in at fourth overall, banking $24 million while Prince Fielder of the Texas Rangers weighs down their team salary at $24 million as well.
